Can The Truth About Six Pack Abs Help Me?

The Truth About Six Pack Abs Program can help you get the abs you’re looking for, but you have to be willing to put in the time and effort.  I bet you wish you could have those sexy abs you see on models and movie stars.  It’s easy for them because they have their own personal trainer and their own personal chef to make sure they stay on track.  All you have is you keeping watch over yourself and it’s so easy to skip a workout or stop at the fast food joint when you’re in a hurry.  Well, getting six pack abs doesn’t have to be that difficult.  It just takes a little work and some motivation and you can look as sexy as the people you see on TV.

Do I Need To Do Tons Of Crunches?

The answer to this is absolutely NOT!  I’m sure that’s a relief.  Most people hate doing abdominal workouts and I think crunches and sit-ups are at the top of the list of exercises people hate doing.  You can do crunches if you want to, but it will get you nowhere.  If you only do this, you’ll probably have a strong stomach, but you’re not likely to see the six pack you’re striving for.  The fact is that you need to do very different exercises to get your six pack.  Exercises you probably wouldn’t expect.

I think doing some abdominal exercise is important, just to help build the core stability you need to do the big deal exercises well.  I like to do planks, side planks, and birddogs to accomplish this.  There are several variations and advancements of these exercises as well.  If you do these you’ll work all the muscles in your core.  But these exercises will not produce six pack abs

Which Exercises Do I Need To Do?

What you need are exercises that are going to burn a ton of fat.  That’s part of the reason that crunches don’t work.  In order to get you six pack you need to lower the percentage of your total body fat, not just the fat over your abs.  To do this, you need to perform exercises that burn a ton of calories.  Exercises that will give you to most bang for your buck are the ones that used multiple large muscle groups at the same time.  Exercises that accomplish this include various versions of the squat, various versions of the deadlift, the bench-press, and all the power exercises.  Power exercises are things like the clean, jerk, and snatch.  Check out my article on which exercise equipment is best for developing your abs.

Of course, there is a lot of emphasis on proper technique with all of these exercises, so you should make sure to find a resource where you can learn to do them properly before attempting any of them.

What About Cardio?

You might be thinking, “where do I fit in my cardio workouts?”  If you’ve been spending endless miles running or using the elliptical machine for hours, you’re unfortunately wasting your time.  It’s totally unnecessary.  The best kind of cardio exercise to burn fat is interval training.  If you’re doing some of the strength exercises listed above with proper rest periods, you’re getting your cardio at the same time.  No need for an extra workout.

You can also fit cardio into your strength training routine by using your rest periods to do things like burpees or mountain climbers.  If you want to have a totally separate workout dedicated to cardio, then I suggest sprints.  They will increase your metabolism better than the long runs you’ve been doing.  In fact, if you do the type of exercise suggested here, your metabolism will stay increased for 24 to 48 hours after you complete your workout.  This is much longer than the usual cardio routine.

What Else Can I Do?

You can do all these exercises and burn all the fat you can, but you won’t see any results if you’re not eating properly.  You can’t be eating lots of high fat foods and stopping at the burger joint every other day.  You need to get your diet in check.  Start eating more lean meats and leafy green vegetables.  Cut out the cookies and bad snack foods that everybody has in their house.  Eating right starts at the grocery store.  If you don’t pick it up and put it in your shopping cart, it can’t come home with you and temp you to eat it.  Read my post on fat burning foods for more information on which foods you should put in your cart.
